We’re half way through Lockdown 2.0. It’s another week, and another great virtual meeting at the City of London Toastmasters. The quality of the speakers this week really took the meeting to the next level, helped along by Jack Rowson as our Toastmaster. Jack called for volunteers to record a short video about Toastmasters to post on our social media channels. Members – if you’re interested, please let us know!
First on the agenda was the improvised speeches, known as table-topics. It was a musical table-topic session this week, with Christine Harris as our table-topic master. Each speaker was given a song lyric, and played the part of a budding musician. They were asked to tell us about the song they had written based on the lyric. Well done Christine for such an imaginative spin on the classic table-topic. And congratulation to all of the speakers. Cristelle Delaporte rose to the challenge of evaluating each of the table-topic speakers by delivering a flawless report.
Next, we moved on to the prepared presentations.
- Charlotte Wiseman delighted us with a sensational icebreaker titled “Why am I here?“
- Angus Innes delivered a unique speech about the artists “Christo and Jeanne-Claude“
- Tim Cummins delivered his second excellent speech in just 4 weeks(!) titled “My way“.
- Olga Galaiko engaged the audience very well with her use of props in her speech “The Rational Owl and The Wide-Eyed Sheep“.
Pre-prepared presentation take a lot of effort and hard work, so thank you and congratulations to all of our speakers for delivering such interesting and well-delivered speeches.
Our evaluators delivered descriptive and helpful reviews to help the speakers learn and improve. A big thanks to Olya Purikova, Sarah Bergin, Jon Lam and Jonty Rooke for taking these important roles and doing a great job!
The last item of the agenda is always to announce the winners, and this week was special with a tie for both the table topics and evaluations. Congratulations to:
