What Happened at our Latest Virtual Toastmasters Meeting?

Despite the current situation, our Toastmasters meetings are still seeing great attendance with guests from all over the world looking to continue improving their communication skills whilst staying at home. In this meeting, we saw guests from the United States, Europe and Asia attend.

First half of the meeting

In the first half of the meeting, we introduce the roles that our members will be taking up in the meeting. This includes the Toastmaster, Time Keeper and Grammarian. It is also the part where we have our fun Table Topics section. Sarah Bergin took on the role as Table Topics Master and asked members and guests to explain the necessities in life.

Break

After a little breather and stretching break……

Second half of the meeting

We proceed onto the second part of the meeting which consists of prepared speeches and evaluations. This is where our members present a topic relevant to the Pathway curriculum that they are on and receive helpful feedback from our evaluators as well as the audience on how they can take their speeches to the next level going forward.

In this meeting,

  • Malcom Pope gave his Icebreaker speech on “Orwell, Bollywood and Beyond”
  • Simone Compagni explained “why you should learn a new language”
  • Nicole Shermet explained why “it’s in our DNA”
  • Olga Galaiko talked about “speaking time”

Our evaluators provided great value by giving feedback to the speakers on how they can take their speeches to the next level.

We were virtually brought back to our lovely Toastmasters venue virtually.

The winners of the meeting were:

  • Best Table Topics Speaker: Eve
  • Best Prepared Speaker: Malcom Pope
  • Best Evaluator: Sarah Bergin

We also announced the new committee that will be taking the club to new heights in the 2020-2021 period. Congratulations to everyone who has been nominated!

We look forward to seeing you again for our next meeting on June 2nd 2020. Let us know if you would like to join as everyone is welcomed!
