The meeting on September 3rd was like no other in the year, it was the City of London Toastmasters’ Humorous speech and Table Topics Contest!
Why is this different from a normal meeting?
Normal meetings at our club are very casual and friendly. However, for club contests, rules have to be followed so the meeting will be structured with more rules as our speakers for the night will be judged externally. The winners will proceed onto participating at the Area and District level of the Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest.
What happened?
Our contest chair, Hannah Redgewell did a fantastic job of briefing all contestants and opening up the night. The table topics question was ‘what is the one thing you must do before you die?’ and this was repeated to all six of our contestants (All contestants are kept in a separate room and called out individually to answer the question.)

Our table topics contestants were (in no particular order):

After a brief networking break, we proceeded onto the humorous speech contest section. Our contestants have all prepared a 5 – 7 minute speech to ensure that the audience will be laughing their socks off.
