Our latest Toastmasters meeting on April 7th, 2020 was filled with motivational stories and music! Read on to find out how our speakers were able to engage the audience virtually.

FIRST HALF OF THE MEETING

As usual, the first part of our meeting was filled with introductions of the meeting roles, and fun table topics.

  • Jack Rowson did a fantastic job in leading the meeting as the Toastmaster.
  • Laura Mclnerney kept us on time as the Timekeeper.
  • Ali Siddiqui challenged everyone to use the “perspicaciously” as the Grammarian.
  • Saloomeh Mokhtari ensured the meeting ran smoothly as the Sergeant at Arms.
  • Dipendra Mistry asked everyone what they would want to do after the lockdown in the UK as the Table Topics Master.

After a short break, we proceed onto the second part of the meeting (Prepared speeches and evaluations).

  • Will Smith told everyone about the ‘scariest moment of my life’ and engaged everyone with an ask to close their eyes and reflect on a fear in his Icebreaker speech.
  • Angus Innes gave his Icebreaker speech on ‘Advice from Helen Keller’
  • Jon Lam gave ideas and used props to help explain how to remain productive whilst staying at home in his speech ‘22,795 minutes’.
  • Olga Galaiko asked ‘to be or not to be (a leader)? and wowed us with her use of backgrounds and music to further engage the audience virtually.

We would never improve without evaluations so thank you to:

  • Cristelle Delaporte on evaluating Will’s speech
  • Caroline Gormley on evaluating Angus’ speech
  • Dami Sangobiyi on evaluating Jon’s speech
  • Bhav Ramanathan on evaluating Olga’s speech

Congratulations to the winners of the night!
