The Future Belongs to Those That Show Up

The future belongs to those that show up. Read to find out what happened in our latest meeting!

Yes. Those who show up will one day own the future. So keep note those that missed our meeting on Tuesday 20th August! Read on to find out what happened.

FIRST HALF OF THE MEETING

  • Louise Taylor led the meeting as the Toastmaster
  • Neha Arora introduced the word of the day – ‘Recontexualise’
  • Cristelle Delaporte added a creative spin to our table topics section. Guests and members were asked to participate in a panel to answer questions such as ‘What is the future of social media?” and pitching their best inventions. This is great example of where Toastmasters can help you with real life situations such as speaking on a panel.

AFTER THE NETWORKING BREAK

  • Agnes Favillier gave her speech on “flying or streaming?”
  • Caroline Gormley taught everyone the joys of doing absolutely nothing with her speech on “the art (and science) of doing nothing”.
  • Sarah Bergin asked everyone “what is your pace?”

WINNERS

  • Congratulations to Caroline Gormley for winning the Best Speaker for prepared speeches.
  • Congratulations to Jon Lam for winning as Best Evaluator.
  • Congratulations to our guest Barbara for winning as Best Table Topics Speaker.

THANK YOU

Our meetings would not go as smoothly without everyone taking up roles. In addition to those named above, thank you Tim Cummins, Ozgur Akyuz, Nelia Ochner, Nicole Shermet, Rolf Merchant, Raoul Li-Everington and our Guest Evaluator Steven Garrod for evaluating our club.

In evaluating our club, Steven said that we are one of the nicest clubs that he has been to. Come and meet our friendly club on our Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest on September 3rd 2019!
