Guests and members of the City of London Toastmasters club met once again. However, it was special this time round. This is because Tuesday 2nd July 2019 will be our first meeting of the new Toastmasters year! A fresh new committee will be leading the club this year.
Highlights of the meeting
- It was Tim’s first meeting as the President of the City of London Toastmasters club.
- Our Toastmaster of the session was Hubert, who did a great job at bringing in humour to his role.
- Jonty, our grammarian challenged us to use the word of the day: ‘idiosyncratic’. Many of our guests and members stepped up to the challenge!
- Tim took everyone on a journey into the future with his ‘Tech and Environment’ themed table topics session. What would you beam around the world?
- We had 4 great prepared speeches by: Agnes (ESG: Don’t trust everything you read in the news), Ozgur (Sleep Deprived), Stefanos (Your doctor can make you sick) and Joseph (Standing)
- Great speeches would mean nothing without great evaluators. Rolf, Saloomeh, Bhavan and Hannah gave constructive feedback to our prepared speakers.
We like to recognise all the achievements of our members and guests. Well done to Joseph Baum who completed his ice breaker and for winning best prepared speech! Scott (Guest) won our table topics section with his speech on the future of handheld devices. Hannah won for her best evaluator speech.
Come to our next meeting on Tuesday 16th July 2019 at our usual location St Botolph’s Church in the City of London. See you there!
