Speech competitions always bring an added frisson of excitement to a toastmasters meeting, and our humorous speech competition held on September 21st proved to be no different.
Seven prepared speeches and four table topics were all performed to an exquisitely high (and humorous) standard. For the prepared speeches, we had:
- Zlata Lobotskaya with ‘A Curse or a Blessing’
- Marvin Ekwenugo with ‘The Black Belt’
- Ranjitha Justin with ‘Please. Don’t please.’
- Ga Lok Chung with ‘Lord of the Pings’
- Christine Harris with ‘Shark versus Dolphin’
- Scott Baker with ‘The legend of the wise mouth frog’
- and myself (Chris Wood) with ‘Turn it up please’
Our competition table topic speakers were Scott Baker, Christine Harris, Tim Cummins, and Ali Siddiqui.
All impressive speeches, worthy of any competition.
A huge thanks to our guest judges and club members who performed roles on the night to oversee the smooth running of what was an excellent competition.
Congratulations to all who took part, and to all our winners, including Ga Lok Chung (best prepared speech) and Christine Harris (best table topic) will go on to represent our club at the next stage.
Join us online or in-person at one of our upcoming meetings. Details available here on our calendar page.
