After a long hiatus from face to face meetings, we finally made a glorious return to St Botolph’s Church on Tuesday 3rd of August, and glorious it was.
Hosting 25 members and guests, the evening was introduced and the tone smoothly set by club President Jonty Rooke, before handing over the reins to seasoned speaker Scott Baker who served as Toastmaster, setting a masterful pace and rhythm throughout the meeting. It was wonderful – it almost felt like we’d never been away.
We had no less that ten table topics for the evening, introduced by Chris Wood. All of them expertly answered in fun fashion by a mix of members and guests.
We heard prepared speeches from Christine Harris “Be a boss, Peter Kershaw “A brief history of the Olympics”, and a shatteringly good ice breaker speech from Zlata Lobotskaya “Three least interesting facts about Z”.
