Another great week at Toastmasters

Another great week at Toastmasters! Our club is continuing to welcome new members which makes each meeting fresh and exciting. The latest meeting was no exception. Ranjitha Justin did a super job of leading our meeting as our Toastmaster in her characteristically vibrant style.

First up was short, improvised speeches, known as table-topics. Table Topic expert Jon Lam was our table topic master. Our speakers flexed their skills of persuasion, with questions like: “convince me to give you £100”, and “Convince me to buy the cookies you are selling”. Congratulations to all of the speakers. Sarah Bergin took the difficult role of evaluating each of the table-topic speaker, and did a super job.

Next, our guests had a chance to introduce themselves, before we moved onto the prepared speeches:

  • Chris Wood gave us an insightful and inspiration speech titled “The Imposter (Mk II)
  • Tim Cummins gave us a lesson in project management with his speech “The Big Picture
  • Charlotte Wiseman told us about burnout and sustainable leadership in her speech “Put your own oxygen mask on first“.

Thank you and congratulations to all of our speakers for delivering such interesting and well-delivered speeches.

Our evaluators delivered descriptive and helpful reviews to help the speakers learn and improve. A big thanks to Sharon Datt, Keith Guthrie, and Yana Danylenko for taking these important roles and doing a great job!

The last item of the agenda is always to announce the winners. Congratulations to:

Beatice for the best table topic – it’s always great to see a guest do so well at table topics.
Sharon Datt for the best evaluation.
Chris Wood for the best prepared speech.

Thanks to everyone who attended this week. Our next meeting is 18th May. We’d love to see you there! Check out the “Join a meeting” page to find out how to join as a guest.
