Following our successful open house night it was great to see so many new faces at our club meeting on March 19th. Louise Taylor stepped up as Toastmaster for the first time and introduced the meeting along with our guest Kasper from Toastmasters Slovenia !!
Bhav Ramanathan then led the table topics session with an expansive theme on “imagine a world without ………” with 9 speakers stepping up for 2mins impromptu speaking around the following variations

- Pizza
- Train Delays
- Toothpaste
- Anger
- Mobile Phones
- Wheels
- Fizzy Drinks
Jonty won with a composed speech around “anger”, very impressive!
Following a short break and networking with our guests, we followed through into four prepared speeches;
“Postcard from Harry” by Rolf Merchant – which started with a pub quiz audience engagement to determine the newest country in the world. This led us into an insightful account of the country East Timor
“Was I a fool?” by Stefanos Antypas – took the opportunity to complete his icebreaker and fulfil one of his bucket wishlist, screaming out loud in a church!
“Are you listening to yourself?” by Cristelle Delaporte – gave us some insight into positive thinking and mental strength by flipping negative thoughts into positives
“Leukaemia – A Chronology” by Hannah Redgewell – was a heartfelt and personal account of her boyfriends treatment for this disease, backed by some detailed statistics on how healthcare and recovery rates are improving all the time
The standard was extremely high and voting was very difficult. The following people were the deserved winners on the night, after a tightly fought contest
