Our first club competition of the year was held on Tues 19th February
This saw 5 members deliver fantastic prepared speeches. This was followed by 7 members each evaluating a guest speaker, in the evaluation competition
Our Club President Cristelle Delaporte led the meeting and introduced the contestants, alongside the evenings Chief Judge Brad Revell
Tim Cummins led us off with “Do the right thing” sharing 3 useful life hacks for his personal life, work life and with a spiritual example
Marcelo Prado inspired us with his speech called “10%” where he shared his personal experience in overcoming obstacles to change career path
Louise Taylor educated us on “the power of yoga” convincing us of the many benefits, backed up with factual understanding and statistics
Hugh McCarthy entertained us with “the Hugh diet“, his humorous journey in developing a healthy diet, expressed through a software development parody, which relived his progression from version 1.0, all the way through to model X
Ravi Kunda reminded us of “the power of words“, especially when trying to persuade his son not to write on the walls
We then heard from guest speaker Mark O’Neill from .. who revealed “the formula which will improve your life” – using real life practical examples such as running a triathlon and navigating airport security
Mark’s speech was evaluated by Andrew Twinn, Christine Harris, Ryan Joyce, Hannah Redgewell, Rolf Merchant, Dami Sangobiyi and Rachel De Cesaro who each provided 2mins commentary and feedback
