Following a members survey, the committee analysed that City Of London Toastmasters members wanted more prepared speeches slots and more workshops. The committee team went straight into action mode and here it is: the 3rd meeting of every month will be a Speech Night. Up to 6 prepared speeches and 6 evaluations, the perfect way for members to achieve their goal and for guests to see our speakers in action.
Funnily this meeting saw 5 Ice Breakers, 1 from a new members and 5 from CC and above members who are now transitioning to Pathways. We got to know a LOT about everyone.
- Cristelle who will be watching Love Actually more than once this winter
- Rolf who taught us how to craft our Twitter description as well as he curated his
- Rachel inspired us all to be our full selves with a poetic speech
- Christine, The Queen of interviews gave us 3 tips to nail our next job interview and land our dream job
- Ga Lok shared his passion for reconnecting with old friends through his marathon fundraising and reminded us that we are the average of our 5 closest friends
Cristelle won best prepared speech and Raoul who was evaluating Ga Lok’s speech won best evaluator proving his evaluation strategy (1. structure, 2. body language, 3. vocal variety) is a definite winner.
Thank you to Marcelo who did an absolute killer job as Toastmasters, Nicholas in his role of SAA, Micheal with his hilarious Grammarian report (WOTD: Rum), Lily who kept us all on time and for all the guests who visited us tonight.
