September 18th – Humourous Speech & Table Topics Club Competition (Love, Music, Ketchup and Orgasms)

A fantastic turnout from Toastmasters, Judges and Guests for our club competition on Sep 18th

Our Toastmaster Shamim Ahmed kicked off a fantastic table topics competition, forcing us to think on our feet about “My Most Profitable Mistake”

6 contestants stepped up to the plate …

Ga Lok Chung (1st) Andrew Twinn (2nd) and Cristelle Delaport (3rd) taking the honours

5 contestants stepped up for prepared speeches ….

Hugh McCarthy “The Automation Game”
A cynical account of the impact of robotics and automation (some interesting observations on robot workers turning up late to work, starting unions and never experiencing all that life has to offer incl love, music, ketchup and orgasms)

Tim Cummins “Holiday Stories”
Some funny anecdotes from holidaying in Dartmoor, particularly graphic
account of an elderly man & wife with jeans too tight for their age)

Ravi Kundra “Don’t Judge a Book By It’s Cover”
Reminded us not to judge people during the first time you meet them, with hilarious consequences

Saloomeh “Where Am I From?”
Shared her identity crisis, whilst also killing Indian, Iranian and Australian accents!

Ga Lok Chung “Childline”
Serious message, underpinned with some observational humour when volunteering at Childline (didn’t realise 80,000 phone calls missed per year!)

Saloomeh Mokhtari (1st) Ga Lok Chung (2nd) and Hugh McCarthy (3rd)

Excellent meeting – and congratulations to our winners !!
