Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! It’s Debate night! Believe it or not, it’s been a year since our last skirmish with Broadgate Speakers. A year since we triumphed over them in style. A lots happened in that time, so do we still have what it takes to tip the scales in our favour? Can we still present an argument coherent enough to convince them into submission? Time to find out…..
On Tuesday the 29th October we will be hosting this annual event (6:45pm at St Botolph’s Church). There will be 2 questions to answer (one dreamed up by each club), and each club will submit one team for each question. There will be a chance for the teams to present their argument, and to have a rebuttal so you’ll get plenty of opportunity to see our club members testing their skills and defending the crown.
Members should put their names down on D71 if they want to take part in the contest or help out with a role, and guests are most welcome to come and watch the excitement unfurl. Theres also time for a debate themed Table Topics contest so everyone will get a chance to participate in the rivalry and notch up an extra point for their clubs.
And remember the words of Desmond Tutu: “Don’t raise your voice, improve your argument.”
